This photograph was taken during my tour though Israel in 2007. Specifically in the old city of Nazareth. While there, I was very attracted to this scene. Two children playing with a group of yellow chicks seen at the right bottom corner of the image. The child with the yellow shirt is holding one of the chicks in His hand and He was playfully and kindly posing for a photograph of another tourist. The child next to him, had a wide happy smile watching his friend as he went along pleasing the tourist with a beautiful pose. I felt happy to catch the scene in the perspective that can be appreciated in the image. If one has a detailed eye, one will see the many pieces of broken green glass on the flat stone pavement.
Nazareth is known today as "the Arab capital of Israel", with a population composed mostly of Arab citizens of Israel, either Muslin (~69%) or Christian (~30.9%). Thus the two children in the photograph are from this background. The New Testament [1], tells us that Nazareth is the city were Jesuswas actually conceived, which is not that widely said, and also the place were grew up to become a carpenter as Joseph, His Mother's husband and the one who raised in humanly. Of Jesus' conception in Nazareth the New testament says in Luke 1:26-27 [1]: "And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, To a virgin engaged to a man named Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary". In those times, Nazareth was considered a despised region of Israel to the point that some said of Jesus [2], "Can anything good be from Nazareth?" (John 1:46). Also, Isaiah 9:1-2 says [3]: "There will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the Gentiles, by the way of the sea, along the Jordan river. The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.
