An artistic rendition of a view within a kaleidoscope. A kaleidoscope is an instrument containing loose bits of colored glass or plastic material, between two flat plates and two plane mirrors, which reflect a wide array of patterns that change each time the colored material changes position. The photograph obtained by putting the lens right on top of the opening of the kaleidoscope was first treated with the software Photo Ninja to enhance det...
About Sandra Pena de Ortiz
I have always been attracted to the sublime, the allegorical, and the mystical aspects of the truth, which can only exist in God Himself, as He is the way, the truth, and the life. He has been with me all the days of my life and today I enjoy His sweet presence as He abides in me. I am a neurobiologist focused on the intricacies of Learning, Memory and Emotions, which I have researched with my students for the past 17 years. However, science is not what defines me. I am happily married and have two dear sons. I have an intimate relationship with God, and my life is dedicated to Him as I enjoy the rich supply of His grace, light, and life. As an autodidactic fine art and digital art photographer, I am moved to use art as a form of...

Hi Linda! Thanks for the comment! I just placed the lense right on top or very close to the opening part of the kaleidoscope, where you look inside of it. Then I stated to move the kaleidoscope to change the pattern as I like and just shoot the camera. It wasn't that difficult.

V This is a very interesting composition that looks just like the real thing when you look through a kaleidoscope. I would be interested to know who you were able to capture this image. The color tones give this an antique appearance.

Thank you so much for this comment, Nancy. Indeed, it is incredible to capture these images. I have a couple more in my gallery. I did not need a very specialized lense though. I have a regular CANON DSL HDR and I used my 50 mm lense.

I have always wanted to do this!!! I even made a lot of calls and discovered that it costs thousands for a lens which would shoot in a kaleidoscope. And you found a way. Brilliant. I applaud this technique. It's an unseen world and you have entered. F/V
