This is a digitally manipulated photograph that I took of the sun while standing in the ruins on the main Synagogue in the town of Capernaum in Israel. The photo was taken in April 2007, while enjoying a tour through this all-inclusive country. Catching this point of view of the sun, while standing, was immensely difficult for me because of my cerebellar ataxia. However, the sacrifice was and still is so rewarding, and I am happy to share the results with you. Note that the digital manipulation served to enhance the view of the rays of the sun, separating into distinct layers, colors, and directions; the brightest ones expand in different forward diagonal directions, while many are seen as having elliptical and then round formations going around the sun. Capernaum or "Nahum's village" was a fishing village located on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee. Specifically, Capernaum is on the side of the ancient road from Tiberias to the east of Golan, Gamla and the Jordan river, the later providing the water inflow to the Sea of Galilee. Capernaum is a town of great historical value and many archeological discoveries have been made within its gates. One such discovery was actually the Ancient Synagogue at Capernaum thought to be built around the 3rd century A.D.. It was actually very close to the site that is thought to be the apostle's Peter's house. While I was admiring this wonderful archeological, historical, and Biblical site, the Ancient Synagogue, I was so moved. I felt so excited and while everyone else in the tour were sitting on the side of the ruins listening to the tour guide, I was moved to wander around the empty synagogue, which has no ceiling. I was enamored by the clear sky with its only object, the sun. I felt it was shining at us, at me in an unexplainable personal way. Many attempts were made until I was able to capture this image. It reminded me of Daniel 12:3 that says: Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven ...
