Girona, an ancient city in the northeast of Spain region, known as Catalonia in English, which is most known for the great city of Barcelona. However, when one takes the two hour train trip from Barcelona to Girona, it is indeed like entering into a different dimension, which mainly holds the past intact. This image was taken in the old part of the city of Girona, which is filled with streets made completely out of stone, being on the one hand silent yet hold so many secret stories. These streets, such as the one in the photograph and which is so typical of so many others, are actually tunnels with stones. This particular street shows beautiful architectural artistic arrangements made obvious by the diverse degrees of darkness and coloration in the stones used in the tunnel ceiling and also especially on its floor, where smaller stones of irregular forms where placed in different geometrically, appositional, and juxtapositional arrangements. Finally, one can see rectangular structures, one at each wall of the street: on the right it is to the bottom and to the left it is part of the upper left . These incrusted structures are actually seen throughout many regions of Spain and are painted signs detailing specific messages or proclamations.

Amazing golden glowing color Photo. A fitting reminder of the once great ancient history of Spain and of The Roman Empire. :-)
